Two Kinects: depth and IR image

Image from a Kinect, with a second Kinect active on the left side of the frame. Despite the bright glare from the second Kinect's IR emitter, there is almost no interference in the depth image.

  1. hi ,
I want to use two kinects that points to one object, for depth frame, how can i merge both of two depth frame from two kinects to produce one depth frame.

    1. Hi! The main issue is you can’t easily merge two separate viewpoints into one depth image, and even if you could the single viewpoint would still have depth shadows. Instead, you should merge the two as point clouds or sparse polygon images. A tool like MeshLab can do this offline.

  2. i did extrinsic calibration for two kinects, i have intrinsic and extrinsic parameters, now what should i do to merge one depth from existing two depth images.
    thanks
